Our son, Vinay, is 28 years old and has Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). He was diagnosed in November of 2006 and was informed this week that he is in need of a bone marrow transplant.

We cannot express in words what this is like. All we can do is implore you to close your eyes for a moment, and imagine that this is your son, your brother, your best friend. We are guessing you would move heaven and earth to help save his life.

We are asking you to help us do the same. We are asking you for something simple: please, please, take the 30 seconds and register yourself with the National Bone Marrow Registry. You may save our son's life.

Vinay is the world to us - he is warm, funny, loving. We have watched him grow from a little baby, to a young boy playing sports, to a fine young man determined to be a doctor, to a man marrying the girl of his dreams. Please help us help our son have a chance to live - to be with his wife, with us, and his friends.

We leave you with a final plea: Take the time out of your busy day to please go register (it really takes less than a minute) and tell your friends! Our son needs your help!!

Thank You For Your Support & Prayers

Rashmi's Parents

Since we have learned of Vinay's diagnoses, our lives have turned upside down. One of the things that we have noticed is Vinay's optimistic attitude and Rashmi's loving support. We pray and hope that Vinay will come out of this ordeal unscathed.

We are overwhelmed with the support we have received from our friends and even total strangers. We are extremely grateful for everyone's efforts. What we are witnessing here is a wonderful phenomenon, an acute sense of awareness amongst the Indian community which has opened up it's soul in an unprecedented manner for the well-being of Vinay and others in a similar plight.

We would like everyone to continue this effort even after Vinay finds his match, so that in the future, we have enough donors in the registry at the time of need.

Thank you,
Rajani and Ramamohan Rao
